So you’ve secured an interview. What happens next?
Whether we like face to face interviews or not, this is the most crucial part of the process. For some of us, being interviewed is an anxious time, for others, it is an enjoyable experience. Concentrate on being confident, prepared and most important yourself.
Preparation
Do your homework.
- Look at their website?
- Where are the company based?
- Who owns the company?
- Who are their main competitors?
- What services do they offer?
- How many people are employed there?
Ask your Recruiter for a detailed job specification, so you understand exactly what the role entails, what will be expected of you, what hours you will be working, what sort of contract is being offered with the position and of course the remuneration package.
Questions
Be prepared with a few well thought out questions to ask at the Interview. The Employer will be impressed that you are already showing strength of character and confidence.
For example
- How does the department fit into the company structure?
- How long was the last person working in this position?
- Do you run a training programme?
- What sort of person is the department looking for?
Below is a list which will help you answer questions you may be asked at the interview
- The reasons you want the job
- What most appeals to you about the position and the company
- Your strengths and weaknesses
- Achievements – about yourself and your past work experience
- Take your current duties and show how they will be transferred to the new job
